Student Government Day

On April 9th Christy Lee McCray and Siobhan McArdle represented Granby at Student Government Day in Boston. Both students were able to take part in the legislative processes. Their day at the state house began with a simulated legislative hearing. There were two bills before the mock legislature. The first bill was to ban texting while driving. The second bill was to fund a study to determine the optimal start time for high schools. After the hearings the students went to the house chambers and took the seat of their town’s representative.Granby’s student delegates voted to ban texting while driving.Christy and Siobhan enjoyed seeing and participating in the legislative process first hand.
