*4-year-old program meets three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from either 8:55 - 11:25 a.m.  or 12:25 - 2:55 p.m..  Children must be 4 years old by August 31 to be eligible.

Children must reside in Granby to be eligible for enrollment. Completion of toilet training is NOT required to attend the preschool.

The Preschool does not discriminate in providing services to children and their families on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, sex, political beliefs, marital or veteran status, or disability.

The Granby Preschool is devoted to serving children with and without special needs in a cooperative learning environment. The experience is beneficial to all children. Some children benefit from the opportunity to interact with and better understand the special needs of their peers, while other children benefit from observing, interacting, and being challenged by typically developing children. All children benefit from the experience and level of training demonstrated by the staff

Parents who are interested in placing their child at the Granby Preschool should contact Susan Rhoads, Coordinator at 467-2567. Parents may choose to come for an initial tour of the program with our without their child. Parents are encouraged to spend as much time as possible viewing the classroom and having their questions answered.

When parents make a decision to place their child at the Granby Preschool, they should contact Susan Rhoads, Coordinator at 467-2567 to determine desired days and sessions available. All required forms must be completed and on file prior to the child's first day of school.

A lottery style registration for fall enrollment takes place in April. An opportunity to pre-register will be offered to children currently enrolled in then program as well as their siblings. Children with documented special needs may be exempt from the lottery. Limited spaces are usually available.

Children currently on the waiting lists must re-register for the following year.

However, children who already went through the lottery application process once and are currently on a waiting list, may call the preschool coordinator at 467-2567 during the month of March (of the next year) to state their continued interest in having their child attend the Granby Preschool.  If there is room, these children will receive consideration for any age appropriate and available slots prior to open enrollment within the community.  It is the family’s responsibility to initiate this call prior to April 1st, but not earlier than March 1st.

A procedure is established within the lottery to try to ensure that there are at least 4 boys and/or girls per each class. The date for the actual drawing of names will be posted.  Families are welcome to attend and witness the process.  Families will be notified immediately if their child’s name was chosen.  A non-refundable deposit of ½ months tuition is required to reserve the space for fall.

Teachers within the Granby Public Schools can waive the Granby residency requirement and enroll their child(ren) ONLY if there are unfilled spaces available.
