GRANBY INTEGRATED PRESCHOOL
The Granby Integrated Preschool program is designed to serve young children of Granby (aged 3-5) with disabilities together with role model peers without disabilities. The peers model appropriate, age-level skills, in order to help the students with disabilities learn. All of the students receive individualized instruction, small group instruction, and large group instruction. We focus on each child’s overall development (cognition, language, communication, physical, behavioral, and social-emotional), friendships with peers, and sense of belonging. We aim to foster the skills which will help prepare each child to eventually make a successful transition into kindergarten.
There are a maximum of 15 students per class. Generally, half of the students are peer role models, and half of the students have Individual Education Plans. Each classroom is equipped with an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and a paraprofessional.
The 3-4 year old program serves children who are 3 by August 31st and who will turn 4 during the school year (or summer). The 4-5 year old program serves children who are 4 by August 31st and who will turn 5 during the school year (or summer).
