We are looking for parents to be part of our ARP/ESSER III Stakeholder group!

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed into law The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. The ARP Act, also referred to as ESSER III, provides additional funding for school districts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this funding is to support the safe reopening and sustaining safe operations of schools while meeting students' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. A key phase of the application process for districts is consultation with all stakeholders in the community to help formulate a plan on how the district will spend this money that includes the following:

• How the funds will be used to implement prevention and mitigation strategies aligned with CDC guidance;

• How the district will use its 20% set-aside to address the academic impact of lost instructional time through evidence-based interventions, such as summer learning or summer enrichment, extended day, comprehensive after school programs, or extended school year programs;

• How the district will spend its remaining ARP ESSER funds; and,

• How the district will ensure that interventions employed will respond to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students and particularly those disproportionately impacted, including students from low-income families, students of color, English learners, children w/ disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, children and youth in foster care, and migratory students.

As a part of this committee, your participation will only enhance the district’s plan for the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services in the 2021-2022 school year. As of right now, we are planning to meet two or three times between June and July and once or twice in the fall prior to submitting the application.

If you would like to participate, please contact Adam Tarquini, Director of Finance & Operations, via email at atarquini@granbyschoolsma.net or by phone at (413) 467-7193.

Tonight's band performance will be livestreamed on GCAM on YouTube. You can access it over YouTube or you can go to the website www.tinyurl.com/GranbyBandConcert and it will bring you to the YouTube page. Alex Lamarche of GCAM has been a great asset for the community during this time and we're grateful to have him be a part of this experience.
